SDSU is a leader in meaningful engagement, co-creating and collaborating with communities to spearhead critical initiatives that address community priorities. These initiatives have garnered critical resources that support and catalyze transformative action from local, state, and federal agencies.
Combining the Climate Center @ SDSU's academic strengths with community engagement and leadership, our efforts are focused on five areas of impact.
Five Areas of Impact
The Sage Project connects SDSU students and faculty with surrounding communities to better understand and collectively develop and implement innovative solutions to our communities' pressing problems.
The Southern Border Coalition of multi-sector partners fosters long-term economic resilience across San Diego and Imperial Counties and coordinates competitive applications for additional funding from the state government.
The Center for Community Energy and Environmental Justice (CCEEJ) strengthens community organizations' capacity and effectiveness in applying to, managing, and implementing environmental and energy justice grants and programs.
The Collaborative of Native Nations for Climate Transformation and Stewardship (CNNCTS) takes an Indigenous-led approach to support coastal resilience, cultural and prescribed fire, climate-informed restoration, and land rematriation efforts that center community priorities and relationships with the land.
The Institute for Ecological Monitoring and Management (IEMM) and Blue Gold research and develop solutions that address the negative effects of the combined pressures of population growth, economic development, and climate variability on our region's natural resources.
