Applied Innovative Research
Connecting people and nature
Using cutting-edge research and scholarship to benefit communities and ecosystems.
Why it Matters
Unprecedented pressures on our natural resources are affecting the wellbeing of people and nature. Climate change, population growth, altered landscapes, water scarcity, and pollution are among the challenges that impact our land, air, water, and the life that depends on them. Our researchers collaboratively identify, investigate, and develop solutions to serve the communities and ecosystems in our region both now and into the future.

IEMM engages in interdisciplinary applied research in wildlife conservation, land use, and resource management to address current challenges related to climate change, sustainable communities, and conservation of biodiversity.

Blue Gold collectively documents, analyzes, and develops solutions for water resource issues in the water-scarce San Diego County-Mexico border region as a model that can be applied in other areas experiencing similar water scarcity.
